Now going back to my early teens , in fact aged 11+ making friendship bracelets was one of my past times, me and my lovely friend Kerry (who’s sister is ironically now married to my brother) We used to take custom orders on colour requests styles and patterns, usually football team colours i may add and usually for boys!
So as part of Sparklefairy roots we have always sold them on here! We *love* friendship bracelets, build them up, wear them single, mix them, whatever, they never actually go out of fashion. So whats the meaning of friendship bracelets? Well, a friendship bracelet is given as a sign of friendship. As legend says tie it on the wrist of a friend at it represents a symbol of lasting friendship. Certain colours represent certain meanings
Pink — kind
Red — honest
Orange — energetic
Yellow — cheerful
Green — responsible
Blue — loyal
Black — strong
Friendship bracelets are simply Knots or knotting .. In China you can still see some decorative knots that were made in 481 to 221 B.C.Chinese developed many uses for knots, including clothing decoration, buttons and household objects.
Macrame this is a craft of tying knots to create patterns usually symmetrical, is said to have developed in 13th-century Arabia. Arabian weavers are thought to have started creating knotted patterns with the fringe at the edges of items made on a loom. Then soon after countries like France and Italy also did knotting and macrame
Also Sailors knotted at sea, to pass time on. Even now a lot of the basic knots used in macrame are the same knots that are an invaluable part of the sailors’ knot-tying routine the half knot, the square knot and the half hitch knot. Macrame became popular in 19th-century Britain and was revived in the U.S. in the 1960s; But macrame appeared popular again beginning of the 21st century.
