Smokey Quartz is the national gem of Scotland and believed to have been considered sacred by the Druids.
Other ancient cultures thought the smokey quartz was related to water (the word “Quartz” comes from the Greek word “krystallos,” which means “ice”) – some believed it was water that had turned to stone, and others used the stone in ceremonies to produce rain for their crops.
Smokey Quartz used also shamanistic rituals and North American Indian ceremonies, its crystals topping the ritual wands used by some Indian cultures. It was particularly used by the Cherokees.
